Salt that is not EN973 Class A compliant will invalidate your warranty. The EN973 number is proof that the salt is of the highest purity and suitable for your water softener. If this number is not shown on the packaging, then the salt may be sub-standard or unsuitable for your water softener.

What’s best, tablet salt or block salt?

Fundamentally, there is no difference between tablet salt and block salt. They are interchangeable and either can be used in your current water softener as part of the regeneration process. So, it really comes down to personal preference as to what you see as being most convenient.

Also, please be aware of the dangers of adding granular salt to your softener. Unless it’s specified in the user manual, using granular salt could invalidate your warranty.

It’s always best to use a Scott Jenkins Water Softeners approved salt.
